The Department of Histology and Embryology of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in collaboration with the STU is developing a program for automatic quantification of cilia on transmission electron microscopy images. The program will potentially help in the diagnosis of a rare disease called primary ciliary dyskinesia. The project follows the current trend of applying artificial intelligence in biomedicine.
Histology and embryology for students of the master's degree in general medicine are taught within the subject Anatomy, Histology and Embryology. More information can be found on the website of the Department of Anatomy.
